I am on cumulative hour 3 today since I got up this morning.

avg that out + some extra on weekends. probably 24-27 hours.

this actually makes me sad.

10-15 hours per week. It's one of those hunts that found my 124 Spider.

Every day after work because I'm always on the hunt for a cheap 82-83 camaro z28 with crossfire injection. Or a 55 Chevy 2dr sedan for a gasser

I get this too. Its like an emotional roller coaster. The high you get when you see a car that's just too good to be true only to be dashed against the rocks of reality.

I bought a car in November on Craiglist, so I'm deliberately avoiding looking at listings. It's almost certain I'll end up seeing the exact same car in better shape with a lower asking price, and I don't want to know!

yeah. Or when you see that one awesome ride and you remember that you just had the cash last week but you spent it on something that is not an MR2 lol :]

I had to stop, I was buying things I had no space for. Or money...

I can always find space, but moneys a little harder to come by.

I will accept that answer. Although, I assume most of the time you spend is an investment toward a profit.

20, and who's not always in the market for a Jalop?

Sure...all those Avant and E91 searches are for "clients" :D

Ha! Avant ranks pretty high on my keyword search as well.

I've got enough issues with the car I DO have.

If you're going to waste time, go big.

Use Hemmings, Ebay, Goo-Net, TradeCarView, Mobil.de... the possibilities are endless when you're not actually buying.

Pffffttttttttt.....

We're talking DAYS here man! Anytime I'm placed on hold working with clients, I either swap to Oppo or CL lol.

I need to in touch with the market, so when that fateful opportunity arises, i'll be best educated to get out there and snatch up a good deal.

What are the best used car websites worldwide?

The ones I like to frequent are mobile.de, cars.com, craigslist, autozone.be, and occasionally autotrader.ca. There must be tons out there that I'm missing.

Since I only shop in the US, i don't really know.

I shop in the US too! Which other good sites beside autotrader and cars.com are there?

Meh. I've already got my ideal car (or, at least, the car that's highest on the list of cars I realistically want that also happens to be legal in the US of A). Just having some engine issues that are proving to be a PITA to diagnose unfortunately (but then, I suck at diagnosing car issues, or so it would seem, so there's that).

Got a new DMM coming my way, complete with damn near every lead-type under the sun. That might make my life easier (as one of my go-to excuses for having issues diagnosing is that my previous multimeter sucked ass...and then broke). Or, it might just be one less excuse I can use.

To be honest those are my top two. Others just don't have the listing power they do. I also will scour dealer websites near my customers because sometimes there are hidden gems.

That makes sense. Since you're in to stationwagons, avants, breaks, estates, whatever you want to call it, you should spend some downtime on mobile.de (check 'English') and go wild. It lists all EU cars, with a focus on Germany.

Great times ahead.

Do yourself a favor:

1. Use a site like autotempest that searches multiple engines

Kinja'd!!!

2. Use it to set up an rss feed (on the right - Feeds for this search).

Kinja'd!!!

3. Plug into your favorite RSS reader and bam = realtime results for everything you like delivered to your inbox. Here's my "The Old Reader" feed list for reference:

Kinja'd!!!

Anything under those categories that show up on craigslist or ebay (not available for the other sites listed for some stupid reason) within a 250 mile radius is delivered to me daily. Be careful what you search though. The "Vincent" category gets a lot of tag spam as nobody actually ever sells Vincents but everybody puts it in the tags.

I've only recently taken to Craigslist because finding early, manual C4's on Autotrader or Carsforsale.com is a nightmare. That being said, I've had the same ad open for over a week now.
